Time ticks on and Deniliquin still waits to see what will happen to the former KFC building.
The building is fenced off and awaits a new lease of life as seen by the sign in front of the poles that held up the KFC sign back in the day.
Surprisingly the ‘Drive Thru’ sign is still intact, usually souvenir hunters or those who like to belt up empty premises would have taken/destroyed it by now, but it still sits up there.
It was previously noted that the outdoor area was starting to collapse, it continues that way with the tiles still holding on with the ceiling starting to fall down, it appears that the front entrance that sticks out is holding the ceiling up.
This building does bring back some memories for people, crossing the road from TAFE or the nearby houses to go and get some ice cream or some drumsticks etc., Friday night takeaway to celebrate the end of the working/school week or just sitting on the benches talking to friends and for some it was their first workplace.
We’ll return in a few months to see what changes to the site.
